This therapy claims to remove toxins and other wastes from the bloodstream using intravenous ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) infusions; it is sometimes known as EDTA therapy. CAP understands that no convincing evidence exists and marketers should make no claims for the efficacy of this treatment.
In July 2007 the General Media Panel, in considering rule 12.3, concluded that complementary and alternative therapy practitioners offering significant or invasive treatments should encourage consumers to take independent medical advice before committing themselves to the treatment.
